Calling all bakers, professionals and amateurs!

Dont forget to enter the Apple Dessert Contest at the Columbus Farm Day Festival held on Saturday, October 2. Enter your favorite apple pie or desserts made with North Carolina apples and win a cash prize.

An official entry form and a copy of your recipe must be submitted to the Extension Office by September 29, 2010. There will be two categories this year, one for professional bakers and one non-professional.

To enter the contest, simply stop by the Polk County Extension Center and pick up an entry form and informational brochure. On Columbus Farm Day bring your apple dessert to the Polk County Cooperative Extension booth by 10 a.m. The judging begins promptly at 11 and the winner will be announced at 1 pm. Cash prizes will be given for the top three recipes in each category.
