CAMPOBELLO—A police pursuit Tuesday in Campobello ended in a fatal crash, according to officials.
Around 1 p.m. on July 8, a deputy with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle on Highway 11 near Caldwell Road. Officials said the vehicle immediately turned onto Caldwell Road and accelerated, indicating the driver did not intend to stop.
“The deputy lost sight of the vehicle and began to slow down to disengage, but after rounding a small bend in the road, observed dust flying,” said Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Lt. Graham McLellan. “The suspect vehicle had exited the roadway and crashed into a small patch of woods.”
