Contractors with Mosely Construction, owned by Philip Mosely, began tearing out walls in 120 Pacolet Street across from Tryon First Baptist Church Thursday, Dec. 13 to make way for meeting space. When they did they discovered the following written inside the wall, “Built for Dr. Allen J. Jervey by Wayne W. Credsman, Oct. 14, 1936.” On another wall the Latin phrase “Non Omnis Moriar” or “I shall not wholly die” was written inside. This phrase comes from one of Rome’s most famous lyric poets, Horace.
