Quilt auction at Tryon Congregational
Published 6:49 pm Monday, September 24, 2012
Two gently used quilts from the 1930s are available for bidding at the Tryon Congregational Church silent auction, which closes Sunday, Sept. 30 at noon. Both quilts are white, summer weight and quilted with fine hand stitches. Some of the appliqued patterns are examples of how different-colored dyes survive the years. The blues are still vibrant. One quilt appears to have been imprinted with a bluebird/flower pattern that the quilter embroidered and pieced over. The one shown here has a big blue bow and flowers. The church, located at 210 Melrose Ave., is open Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – noon and 1-3 p.m. Stop in the church office and you will be directed to the quilts. Call 828-859-9414 for more information. All proceeds will go to community causes. (article written by Donna Southworth, submitted by harvest sale publicity)
