Tryon Elementary School fifth-grade students visited The University of North Carolina-Asheville on Saturday, Jan. 22. They spent the day learning about college life. They went on a campus tour and learned about the ways the university is creating a green campus. The students were able to eat in the dining hall and then watched the women’s and men’s basketball games. The college experience trips take place in the students’ fifth year and are funded by the College Experience Grant through the Polk County Community Foundation. The students said they are looking forward to their next trip in the spring, hopefully to Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill. (photo submitted)
