Columbus begins mapping of towns stormwater system

Published 9:40 pm Wednesday, November 24, 2010

You may have noticed survey crews around downtown Columbus lately and wondered, Whats going on out here?

The town recently received a grant from the North Carolina Clean Water Management Trust Fund in order to assist with stormwater issues within the downtown area.

The first phase of this project is to survey the towns stormwater system. The survey crews have worked this week to map the Columbus system and this information will be incorporated into the towns GIS system. This will enable the town to better prepare for stormwater issues and allow officials to use best management practices to plan for future stormwater infrastructure.
