Emergency evacuations underway as multiple wildfires burn in Polk County

POLK COUNTY—Fire crews are working to contain three separate wildfires in Polk County Thursday evening as high winds and dry conditions have caused the fires to spread. Evacuations are currently underway. Evacuated residents can go to the Polk County Shelter at 75 Carmel Lane in Columbus.

A 150-acre wildfire is now burning in the Lake Adger community on the northern side of the lake. Residents on the following roads near the Fish Hook Fire should evacuate immediately:

  • Lake Adger from Jackson to Highland Lane
  • Parkway North Rd from Lake Adger to North Park Lane
  • North Park Lane
  • North Boundry Rd
  • North Martin Lane

Residents on the following roads are also being evacuated due to the Deep Woods Fire, which has burned at least 332 acres near the Piney Mountain community in the Green River Gamelands:

  • Deepwoods Lane
  • Wesley Lane
  • Piney Gate Rd
  • Piney Overlook Lane
  • Piney Gate Rd
  • Gamelands Trail
  • Oakview Lane
  • Volley Way
  • Charity Branch Dr
  • Windsong Ln
  • Moonshine Trace

The Black Cove Fire, which started Wednesday due to downed power lines, has burned at least 583 acres off Green River Cove Rd. No evacuations are underway related to the Black Cove Fire.

All three fires are 0% contained as of 8:30 p.m.
