Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for Saluda

SALUDA—The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southwestern Polk County and Southeastern Henderson County in effect until 5 p.m.

At 3:58 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Hendersonville / Flat Rock, moving southeast at 10 mph. The NWS says that ping pong ball-sized hail and 60 mph wind gusts are possible.

Affected locations include Saluda, Hendersonville, Flat Rock, Laurel Park, Valley Hill, Tuxedo, and East Flat Rock.

Residents in affected areas should expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to trees and power lines. People and animals outdoors could be injured.

The NWS advises moving to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building for your protection.
