TRYON—The Rotary Club of Tryon held a successful Fabulous Fourth Bike Tour on July 4th, starting off at Harmon Field.
The tour, which featured both short and long courses, attracted over 200 participants this year.
Local coach Katie Malone, a seasoned triathlete dedicated to coaching Ironman competitors and triathletes, played an invaluable role in ensuring the event’s success. Her expertise and guidance ensured the best possible ride for everyone, organizers say.
The event kicked off with the national anthem at 7:30 a.m., followed by the riders setting off on their chosen routes, the short or long loop.
The long loop encompassed sixty-five miles of rolling hills, guiding riders through Tryon and Landrum. The route included a climb of the Greenville watershed, culminating in a descent of the Saluda Grade. It offered four miles of high-speed riding and a flat all-out sprint to the finish. A shorter route of thirty-three miles was also available to accommodate cyclists of all abilities.
The courses featured four fully-stocked aid stations staffed by friendly volunteers and excellent course markings, ensuring a challenging yet accessible ride. A post-event meal was also provided for the participants.
The Rotary Club expressed its gratitude to all the Rotarians and volunteers whose efforts contributed to the success of the event.
