Ethan, a Tryon native, is a Type-1 diabetic and has just recently learned he is facing kidney failure. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards his medical bills and general living expenses while he is unable to work.
“Ethan has spent most of his life in this area,” said event organizer Gabby Horvath. “You have probably shared a conversation or bonded over a beverage. He may have handed you your dry cleaning or cooked your favorite meal. Ethan is a wonderful member of our community who now needs our help.”
The Benefit Jam will feature live music, a silent auction, a 50/50 cash raffle, a basket raffle, a tie-dye station, karaoke, and more. Smoke Bros BBQ Fusion will be onsite offering smoked pork with baked beans and slaw. Guests are encouraged to bring their own drinks, cash for donations, and a chair for the event.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help raise funds, as well.
“With a heavy heart, I ask for some help,” Ethan said in a heartfelt message on the page. “If not by money, just maybe a phone call or a text message would be great, too. Thank you, everyone. Also, if anyone is willing to donate a kidney, that would be cool, too.”
