Trejo to resume playing career with new semipro team

Former Polk County soccer standout and coach Josh Trejo will soon be resuming his playing career.
Trejo has joined Boiling Springs United FC, a new semi-professional team based in Boiling Springs, S.C. BSUFC will take part in its first season this fall.
Trejo graduated from Polk County in 2008, helping lead the Wolverines to the 1A state semifinals in his senior season. He scored 27 goals that year, earning selection to the East-West All-State Game and a chance to play soccer at Emory & Henry College, from where he graduated in 2013.
He later returned to Polk County as an assistant boys coach before taking over the Wolverine program, leading Polk to the 1A West Regional final in 2018. He compiled a 55-40-4 record in five seasons with the Wolverines.
Boiling Springs United will compete in the United Premier Soccer League, a collection of some 400 semipro teams around the country. The league is considered the fourth tier of U.S. Soccer and serves as a development league for the higher tiers.
