COLUMBUS—This week, the community is invited to celebrate a milestone for the Door of Hope Ministry. The biblical counseling non-profit, located at 1710 Lynn Rd., is marking its 25th anniversary and commemorating its two-and-a-half decades of existence. 

Founded by lead counselor Jason Schlabach in 1999, the ministry has grown over the years to include events, conferences, and the Hannah House ministry, a home for women who have been abused or are seeking a break can come and stay and receive counseling. 

“Door of Hope was born from a vision of helping people find freedom in Christ through counseling,” Schlabach shares. “It’s a vision that has guided us for the past 25 years and will continue to do so in the future.”

The Hannah House, which started six years after the ministry, is a short-term home for adult women who need emotional and spiritual healing. The length of stay may vary based on the individual. Some may need two weeks; others will need longer. The purpose of the Hannah House is for each woman who comes through the program to find healing through counseling and prayer. 

Schalbach credits his staff, his wife Fern and family, along with Paul and Marge Mullet, and numerous others for the longevity of the ministry. 

“When we started, we didn’t know if we’d make it a month. We stepped out in total faith,” says Schlabach.
