FOOTHILLS–The Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for people whose outstanding efforts in 2022 deserve special recognition. 

 

Awards will be given to individuals who have shown extraordinary efforts of volunteering their time at the Chamber, and for the contributions of a business or non-profit in the community.

 

Nominations for Volunteer of the Year, Business Person of the Year, and Outstanding Citizen of the Year are still being accepted online at the chamber website until Friday, March 3.

 

The Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce differs from many chambers because they represent businesses in two states, covering all of Polk County and Landrum. The Foothills Chamber represents small and large businesses while supporting organizations throughout Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina. They look to build and connect the economic infrastructure while promoting tourism to attract more visitors. 

 

The awards are a wonderful opportunity to showcase the many wonderful businesses and are broken down into three categories: Volunteer of the Year, Business Owner of the Year, and the Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award. 

 

The nominating criteria for each award are as follows. 

 

Volunteer of the Year is awarded to someone recognized for consistent time and effort in contributing to the chamber’s activities and who has done something extraordinary for the activities of the Chamber in a volunteer capacity.

 

Business Owner(s) of the Year is awarded to an owner of a business or non-profit that functions as a business which has operated for a generous period of time, participates in community activities, is well respected by fellow businesses and is not a current chamber board member.

 

The Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award goes to individuals who make the commitment to help others in bringing our communities closer together. This award pays tribute to those who use their time, talent, and compassion to positively affect the lives of others in their communities or in the workplace. Recipients of the award help foster a culture of citizenship and service that catalyzes others to become involved in civic and social activities.
