If Thanksgiving is just around the corner, can Christmas be far behind? Forty-eight years ago, on December 22, 1974, The Rink at Rockefeller Center in New York City was the site of the first gathering for TubaChristmas.
This will be the 24th gathering of Tubas and Euphonia here in Columbus, N.C. The music will echo from the front lawn of the Polk County Courthouse, on Saturday, December 4th, at 1:30 p.m.
The traditional songs and carols have been arranged for this special group of instruments and the full sound has been compared to that of an organ. It is no wonder that TubaChristmas has become an established Christmas tradition in our town and in cities throughout the world. Players will need to bring their own chairs and music stands with them and listeners will also need to bring chairs, as well.
December 4th at 1:30 p.m. will be the time to let the music ring in the Christmas Season in Columbus.
Start the Christmas Season with a resounding UmPah!
