Letter to the editor
To celebrate Jesus’ coming into the world at the time of the Winter Solstice is very appropriate.
From the moment of the solstice the days begin to lighten subtly but steadily at the same pace that they shortened.
When the world was at its’ darkest, Jesus came, piercing the darkness as a gleaming sword leaving a wake of light behind him.
As he came into his public life and ministry, he brought:
healing where there was pain,
hope where there was despair,
life where there was death, and
truth where there were lies.
No one touched personally by his healing, hope, and truth would ever be the same.
As the sunlight gives life to all vegetation, the light of the son brings every human to life.
