The Board of Directors for the Stuart and Margaret L. Forbes Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce Tana Harris as the recipient of the 2020 Margaret L. Forbes Distinguished Scholar Award.

This $12,000 renewable scholarship is awarded to a Polk High School student who demonstrates outstanding leadership, high academic achievement, a strong dedication to community service and participation in school clubs and extracurricular activities. The scholarship is awarded by the Stuart and Margaret L. Forbes Foundation and is administered by the Polk County Community Foundation.

Harris was an honor student at Polk County High School. As a senior, she served as President of the FFA and Student Body Vice President. She was an officer in the Key Club and also a member of the Interact Club.

As well as being active in various leadership roles in the school, Harris is an outstanding athlete. She was a member of the Ski and Snowboard Team as well as the Dance Team. She was named Conference player of the Year for Tennis and was the WHC champion in pole vault.

Harris plans to attend NC State University where she will study Civil Engineering. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, playing with her dog and teaching tennis lessons.
