With an accomplished background in hematology and oncology, Dr. Curran attended medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark. After medical school, he completed residency in Internal Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, followed by a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology, also at MUSC.

“Dr. Curran brings a great deal of experience and knowledge to our Cancer & Infusion Center here in Polk County,” said St. Luke’s CEO Michelle Fortune. “We are listening to our community and hearing the healthcare needs that are being expressed to us. A full-time oncologist is one of those needs, so we set out on a journey to find the right fit, and we believe Dr. Curran fills this need beautifully.”

Dr. Colin Curran is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology and has also served as a guest lecturer at Virginia College of Medicine and Wofford College. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, SC Medical Society, SC Oncology Society and Upstate Carolina CCOP.

“With the inclusion of a full-time oncologist on our staff, it made sense to rename our existing Infusion Center to more accurately reflect its purpose,” said Lynn Hensley, VP of ambulatory services and marketing. “St. Luke’s Hospital Cancer & Infusion Center provides the

highest standard of patient-centered care for cancer and hematology diagnoses by a board- certified oncologist, and it’s right here in Polk County!”

The Cancer & Infusion Center features four individual bays and two private treatment rooms for chemotherapy, IV therapy or blood transfusions. Floor to ceiling views of nature provide peaceful surroundings, but flat screen televisions are available for distraction if needed during treatments.
