Riding and hunt club announces inductees into 2018 Show Hunter Hall of Fame

The following horses will be inducted into the Tryon Riding and Hunt Club’s Carolinas Show Hunter Hall of Fame Ceremony, which will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 7, at the Tryon International Equestrian Center: Caped Crusader, Gershwin, and Patriot’s Way.
These horses received the most votes from 2018 Hall of Fame members who selected from among five nominees. To be eligible for the Carolinas Show Hunter Hall of Fame the horse must have been stabled in North or South Carolina for a minimum of six months, proven itself as an outstanding show hunter (i.e., champion or reserve champion at a major national competition), and have been permanently retired from competing.
The 2018 horseman/horsewoman inductees are Maryann Charles and Pat Dodson. The two received the most votes from among four nominees.
To be eligible for the Carolinas Show Hunter Hall of Fame the person must have resided in North or South Carolina for a minimum of six months, have participated in the show hunter community for a minimum of fifteen years and have made a substantial positive impact on the upper levels of the sport of show hunters. In addition, National Show Hunter Hall of Fame inductees Patty Heuckeroth and Gozzi will also be inducted to the Carolinas Show Hunter Hall of Fame. National Show Hunter Hall of Fame inductee J. Arthur “Bucky” Reynolds II was eligible for induction this year, however his family requested he be inducted in 2019.
Two horses, Happy Hour and Que Sera, will receive the Elma Garcia award given to horses that competed in the Adult Amateur Hunter and/or Children’s Hunter divisions. The award was named in honor of Garcia by her husband who was the highest bidder in an auction for naming rights.
