A tangled jacket, fingers stuck with masking tape, a hat that keeps falling off.  Who among us has not found ourselves struggling, if only briefly, with setting these things to right? Comedian Rob Torres lifts our momentary frustration with the ordinary to comedic heights in his show, “Room to Play,” coming to Super Saturday on March 17.

With his special brand of slapstick and visual comedy, Torres is solidly in the same league as Charlie Chaplin, Mr. Bean, and his own mentor, Super Saturday performer Avner the Eccentric. Trained at the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Clown College as well as the Estudio Busqueda de Pantomima Teatro in Mexico, Torres has taken his passion for creating joy to more than 60 countries. He has garnered awards at circus festivals all over the world and earned reviews such as “world-class” from the New York Times and “a one man parade” from the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Super Saturday is celebrating its 40th season this year with five venues of performers and everything from aerialists to paper-cutting Mr. Cheng on Melrose Avenue. A special end-of-the-day concert by Woody Cowan and the band Project X honors four decades of volunteers who have made Super Saturday happen. This final event of the day is funded by the Polk County Community Foundation.
