Call for volunteers for Christmas Day Shepherd’s Feast

Published 1:37 pm Thursday, December 7, 2017

This wonderful Christmas tradition will once again be at Polk County Middle School’s cafeteria on Christmas Day from 1-4 p.m.  Everyone is invited to come and share a delicious Christmas dinner served family style complete with turkey and all of the trimmings.  Tell your friends and bring your neighbors.

This event would not be possible without the help of many volunteers.  We need volunteers on Christmas Day from 12:15 – 4 p.m. to serve as hosts at the tables and be on hand to welcome guests.  Volunteers also have a time to sit down and enjoy the meal, make new friends and share the joy of Christmas with your neighbors.   Of course, we always need help with cleanup on Christmas Day from 3:30 – 5 p.m.

Even if you are unable to be there on Christmas Day, there are still ways to help.  We need gifts for children from ages 6 – 12. Please wrap the gifts if possible and put a tag on the gift indicating if this is for a boy or a girl and the appropriate age range. Unwrapped gifts are fine, too.  Gifts can be dropped off at the middle school on Friday, Dec. 23 from 1-3 p.m. or Christmas morning from 10:30 a.m. – noon.

We are asking for volunteers to bring  homemade cakes, cookies, or pies to the middle school on Christmas morning between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

If you would like to help on either of these days, contact Carlann or Dave Scherping at cscherping@ gmail.com  or phone 828-894-3253.
