LANDRUM – Landrum residents have four decisions to make on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Voters will choose three city council members, Fire District commissioner, five school board members and whether to add a one percent sales tax.

The polling location at the United Methodist Church, 227 N. Howard Ave., will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Anyone in line by 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote. A photo ID is required to vote in South Carolina.

Voters can vote absentee up until 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, which is the required four days prior to Election Day. Absentee ballots can be received by mail or on line at www.info.scvotes.sc.gov. There are different regulations for filing an absentee ballot depending on whether the ballot was received on line or by mail. More information can be found on the web site. South Carolina does not allow early voting.

In addition to incumbents Tammy Wells Cox, Billy Inman and Randy Wohnig, Daniel Prince is running for Landrum City Council. The nine candidates running for the five school board seats are Debbie Strange Baker, Ronnie Blackwell, Henry Gramling, Mark Holden, Gena McCall Meredith, Joel Pack, Mark Rollins, Jeff Sumner and Summer Tebalt.

Voters will choose between Joe E. Brown III and J.R. Jackson for Fire District commissioner. Voters can mark either, “Yes/in favor of the question,” or “No/opposed to the question,” for the proposed one percent sales tax imposed for six years. Money raised by the additional sales tax would be used for Spartanburg city and county municipal buildings, an emergency operations center, parking facilities and road and bridge projects.
