The 6&squo;2&dquo; 232 lb., Montgomery&bsp; gave up only one run in four innings of work to lead the Wolverines to a 10-2 non-conference victory against the Black Knights. He also struck out five batters.

Offensively, Polk&squo;s Rooster Ross and Matt Brodie provided some key hits. Ross finished 2-3 with two RBIs. Brodie took advantage of his one official at-bat by knocking in two runs on a double.

In the first two games of the season, Polk has outscored their opponents 19-4, committed only one fielding error, and given up eight hits in 14 innings.
