Gavin Crawford Hyder, son of Paula and Austin Hyder, was awarded Boy Scouts highest rank Sept. 4, 2014 at the young age of 14. Hyder earned the Arrow of Light, and is a member of the Order of the Arrow.  He has earned 26 merit badges to date.  Hyder also attended and graduated from NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training.) He has held troop positions as Quartermaster, Assistant Patrol Leader, Leave No Trace Trainer and Senior Patrol Leader. Greenville Animal Care was the beneficiary of his Eagle project. A much needed shelter and roof was constructed for a 10×10-fenced kennel. The project took 97 combined man-hours over a four-day period. Hyder joined scouting at age eight as a bear cub, and looks forward to helping younger scouts achieve their goals.
