At 95 Joe Williamson refuses to move at a turtle’s pace. He stretches his limits, keeping his body active and limber.
“I think it is very important [to stay active] if you want to live long and be healthy,” Williamson said. “You don’t see people deteriorate as fast if they stay active.”
Williamson proved just how active during the Greater Greenville Senior Sports Classic Thursday, April 18 by winning six events – javelin, shot put, discus throw, softball throw, 400-meter walk and standing broad jump.
Williamson is undefeated after three years participating in the games.
“I like to win and plays I’ve got to stay ahead of my grandson who plays football at Daniel High,” he said joking.
