Later the department acquired a 1950 Chevrolet from the city of Marion to be used as a street washer and as a tanker.

In 1969, the department purchased its first new fire engine.&bsp; The truck was a 1969 Ford and the department built the bed of the truck with the pump and tank.

In 1976, Green Creek erected its current station on the corner of Green Creek Drive and Hwy. 9. The cost was approximately $78,000. The first commercial fire engine was purchased in 1988. That unit was replaced in 1993 after an accident. Another fire engine was added in 1997.

In 2000, the Green Creek Fire Department added a substation, which is located on Chesnee Hwy. beside New Freedom Church. The department also has added an addition to its main fire station. This addition cost approximately $300,000. The addition includes a large meeting/training room and three extra bays to house equipment. &bsp;

Green Creek Fire Department now also has available its new ambulance, which was purchased by donations, and the Jaws of Life, which is used to help rescue workers extricate victims who are trapped in an automobile accident.

The fleet of the Green Creek Fire Department has grown to 11 vehicles currently. The department has two fire engines, three tankers, an equipment truck, an ambulance, an extrication/crash truck and a chief&squo;s vehicle. &bsp;

Green Creek Fire Department currently has 40 firefighters and 11 medical members who assist with first responder calls and operate the ambulance. &bsp;
