Saluda artist Jim Carson (right) is shown here with world-renowned landscape and portrait painter Everett Raymond Kinstler at the Plein Air Richmond, held recently in Richmond, Va. The 48 artists, including Tryon artist Richard Christian Nelson, who were juried into the festival by Plein Air Magazine editor Stephen Doherty, were treated to an inspiring and extemporaneous 45-minute talk by Kinstler about everything from his passion and ideas about painting to humorous stories about his experiences while painting the portraits of celebrities, from John Wayne to President Bill Clinton. A group picture with Kinstler will be in an upcoming issue of Plein Air Magazine. (photo submitted by Jim Carson)
