U.S. History/English III (American Literature) students from the Polk County Early College visited Carl Sandburg’s home in Flat Rock, N.C. on April 4. Students were given a guided tour of the home and then spent the remaining morning in the barn at the goat farm with twin and triplet goats that had just been born. After a picnic lunch, students were given quiet time to reflect on their day through writing their own poems.
