SALUDA—Slow Runner, the creative alias of Saluda resident Michael Flynn, will perform at 7 pm, Friday, July 11, at Saluda’s Top of the Grade concert on the Ella Grace Mintz Stage at McCreery Park. The summer concert series is made possible through a grant from the Saluda Community Fund at the Polk County Community Foundation.
“I am so excited to bring my full band to play a special hometown show for friends and neighbors in the beautiful amphitheater downtown,” Flynn said. “We’ll consider it a warmup party for Coon Dog Day on July 12.”
Flynn, an Americana singer-songwriter, has had his songs featured on shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Shameless, as well as in commercials for various products, including cars and shampoo. He’s also won a few awards for songwriting, most recently the 2021 Newsong Music Grand Prize. His music spans diverse genres, ranging from dreamy synth-pop to confessional folk, always grounded by compelling lyrics and an authentic emotional core. Joining Flynn will be Jonathan Gray on upright bass and vocals, Clay White on horns and vocals, and Jack Victor on drums.

In the event of rain, the concert will be held at the park pavilion. Attendees are reminded to bring a lawn chair or cushion for the new amphitheater seating. You may also bring wine and beer to the concert, but please limit your consumption to the designated seating area. No alcohol is allowed on the playground or in the parking lot. Remember to place a to-go order at one of Saluda’s fine restaurants so you can enjoy a picnic and live music in the park.
The Top of the Grade Concert series is overseen by the Saluda Downtown Foundation, Inc., with support from the City of Saluda. The Saluda Downtown Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the arts, beautification, historic preservation, cultural development, and economic development in downtown Saluda.
