TRYON— On Sunday, April 27, the Tryon Depot Plaza transformed into a lively hub of creativity and community spirit as the Back Alley Boutique and Bud Bar hosted its third annual Back Alley Hempfest. The family-friendly event showcased a vibrant blend of live music, local artisans, and a festive atmosphere dedicated to all things hemp.
Attendees were treated to a fantastic lineup of musical performances featuring Paper Crowns, Hailey Land, and Kool Dewey Kudzu. Food enthusiasts savored delicious offerings from the Roll-In Cuban food truck while approximately 30 local artisans and vendors showcased their unique crafts and wares.
Gabby Horvath, the event’s organizer, expressed her excitement for the day.
“This is a whole day dedicated to celebrating hemp,” she said. “It’s a huge collaboration where our vendors and everyone can spend a beautiful day together, and the vendors can share what they love and achieve success.”
Artist Kristen Mode, who supports many participating artists at her shop, eArthly Minds in Saluda, played a key role in organizing the event.
“It’s been a lot of fun and a beautiful day,” she said. “I’m always glad to help my friend Gabby; she’s a total powerhouse. We’ve worked hard to bring in a lot of great vendors, and it’s once again brought the community together.”
In keeping with tradition, this year’s Hempfest included a charity raffle to support local non-profits featuring items donated by vendors. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit MountainTrue/The Green Riverkeeper and the Foothills Humane Society.
