GOLF: Menetre takes medalist honors, Polk earns fourth at Bright’s Creek

Polk County’s Myles Menetre delivered a standout performance Wednesday at Bright’s Creek, capturing medalist honors with a field-low score of 75 to lead the Wolverines to a fourth-place team finish.

Menetre’s round placed him atop the leaderboard, besting a field that included Mitchell’s Bryce Miller, Landrum’s Trey Whiteside and R-S Central’s Grant Watson, who all carded 77s. Hendersonville’s Trey Trantham finished with a 78, while Owen’s Carson Murphy posted a 79.

Polk County finished fourth in the team standings with a total of 336, trailing Mitchell (318), Owen (325) and Landrum (333). The Wolverines placed ahead of R-S Central (342), Chase (355) and Hendersonville (369).

Supporting Menetre in the Wolverines’ effort was Tourin Jackson, who contributed an 82. Piercen Edwards and Brody Wilkins rounded out Polk County’s scoring with rounds of 89 and 90, respectively. Gage Harden (96) and Tanner Osborn (112) also competed for the Wolverines.

The Wolverines will look to build on Menetre’s medalist performance when they return to action Thursday at Grassy Creek Golf & Country Club in Spruce Pine.
