COLUMBUS—On Thursday, April 24, the Foothills Association of Master Gardeners is hosting an presentation by Lake Lure Flowering Bridge Education Committee Chair Debbie Clark. The program will take place at the Polk County Ag Extension Office in Columbus at 1 p.m.
Clark has pulled together an extensive collection of “before & after” photos of the glory days of the Flowering Bridge as it was before Tropical Storm Helene hit, as well as the wrath and devastation that the storm left behind. She has included photos of the recovery process that is taking place, and the remarkable progress that has been made to date.
She will present updated information regarding the plans and progress for restoration of the gardens and the Education Center building that miraculously survived the flooding, and will also discuss plans for potential classes to be held in 2025. There will be a brief Q & A session following the presentation.
This presentation is open to the public. The Polk County Ag Extension Office is located at 79 Carmel Lane.
