LANDRUM—The Foothills Chamber of Commerce hosted its monthly Business After Hours event on Thursday, April 17, at 1878 Butcher’s Block, located at 227 E. Rutherford St. The butcher shop and restaurant, which debuted last summer, was bustling with attendees eager to connect and network.
Guests enjoyed a spread featuring a variety of options from Butcher’s Block, including fresh salads, wraps, and hearty sandwiches. The establishment also boasts a popular beer and wine bar, as well as a distinctive selection of locally sourced, fresh-cut meats.
Owner David Black, who has an extensive background in restaurant ownership and consulting, expressed his enthusiasm for bringing his dream of owning a butcher shop to life. Black shared that the decision to establish the butcher shop in Landrum was influenced by his family’s fondness for the community’s vibrant events, such as the Halloween Stroll and the Christmas parade.
“Landrum is so cool,” said Black. “Small towns have such a different feel than the big cities, and I felt that the demographics and foot traffic made Landrum the perfect fit for us.”
The After Hours event successfully highlighted the importance of networking within the community, enabling local business members to connect, share ideas, and support one another while enjoying light refreshments. The Rejuvenation Station contributed to the festive atmosphere by offering complimentary samples of energy teas and protein shakes.
The Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce serves the business communities in Tryon, Landrum, Columbus, and Saluda. The next Business After Hours event is scheduled for May 15 at the Steps of Hope Thrift Store. For more information, visit carolinafoothillschamber.com.
