Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

TRYON—The PacJAM Performers will entertain at the next Live@Lanier event, set for Thursday, April 10, at 6 p.m. The program is free to the public.

The group is a student band from the Pacolet Junior Appalachian Musicians, an organization that teaches area youth from seven to late teens and adults to play and enjoy traditional music on fiddle, guitar, 3-finger banjo, and other instruments. Students have performed in venues across the region from Knoxville to Raleigh.

Professional mandolinist Will Trakas will lead six local youths, ages 13 through 17, as they bring back that old-time music to the top of the Chestnut Street hill. The musicians are Eli Aldrich on bass, Phoebe Aldrich on fiddle and vocals, Frankie Barber on guitar and vocals, Sarah Doan on fiddle and vocals, Ella Tokar on mandolin and vocals and Lyla Tokar on guitar and vocals. They will also play some of their own compositions and interpret modern music with Appalachian flair.
