Polk County’s varsity girls soccer team suffered its first setback of the season Tuesday, falling 4-0 to Hendersonville in Mountain Foothills 7 Conference action at Dietz Field.
The Bearcats (3-1, 2-0) built their first-half lead thanks to goals from four different players as junior Mia Nitsche, sophomores Reagan Adams and Addison Reid and freshman Amelia Hodge each found the back of the net.
Polk County (1-1, 0-1) managed to tighten its defensive effort in the second half, holding the Bearcats scoreless over the final 40 minutes. But the Wolverines were unable to generate enough offensive pressure to cut into the deficit.
Polk County will return to action quickly, hosting Patton on Thursday for a conference match at G.M. Tennant Stadium. That contest is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
