SALUDA—On Wednesday, February 19, Saluda Living in Place (SLIP) will host Denise Young from the Alzheimer’s Association at the Saluda Senior Center from 11 a.m. to noon. Young will offer insights into Alzheimer’s from her personal experiences and professional background.
Her presentation will cover the signs and symptoms of the disease, the emotional landscape associated with its diagnosis, and practical ways to support loved ones facing these challenges.
Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive brain disorder that significantly impairs memory, thinking, and behavior. As the most common cause of dementia, it affects millions of individuals and their families. While there is currently no cure, early detection and appropriate care can substantially enhance the quality of life and help manage symptoms effectively.
This session will benefit caregivers, family members, or anyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding of Alzheimer’s. Attendees can expect to leave with valuable knowledge, strategies, and resources to help those affected by the disease live with dignity and support.
SLIP hosts a variety of events each month, including educational programs and social events. Educational events occur on the third Wednesday of the month, and the organization also hosts a monthly Veterans Breakfast on the first Wednesday.
Open to the community, these gatherings are now scheduled at a new time to make attending easier for everyone. Refreshments will be provided for all participants.
The Saluda Center is located at 64 Greenville St. To RSVP or learn more, visit slipnc.org.
