Cardinals basketball teams have winning week

LANDRUM– The Landrum Cardinals basketball teams showcased their skills this past week with big victories, further solidifying their standings in Region play.
On Thursday, the boy’s team delivered a commanding performance against the Brashier Middle College Charter Bengals, dominating the game with a decisive 68-49 win at home. Senior Benett Edwards and junior Cooper Tidwell were instrumental in the victory, each contributing 17 points in the Region 1 2A matchup.
Following that home game, the Cardinals hit the road on Friday, securing their third consecutive win by narrowly defeating the Liberty Red Devils, 64-60. Tidwell once again led the team with an impressive 28-point outing, shooting an efficient 10 of 13 from the floor. With this latest win, the Cardinals improved their season record to 13-6 overall and 5-2 in regional play, putting them in 4th place with eight games remaining in the schedule.
Landrum Lady Cardinals also found success. On Thursday night, they faced the Brashier Middle College Charter Bengals and triumphed with a solid 43-24 victory. The following evening, the girls continued their winning streak with another big win against Liberty, outpacing them with a score of 59-35. This latest victory elevates the Lady Cardinals’ record to 11-8, currently leading the region with a 6-1 conference record and giving them a two-game advantage over second-place Blacksburg.
