All-WNC: Hill named Coach of the Year, three Wolverines selected

Polk County volleyball coach Molly Hill has been named the 2024 All-Western North Carolina Coach of the Year by the Citizen-Times in Asheville.
She is joined on the All-WNC squad by Sophia Overholt, named to the All-WNC First Team, and Charley Dusenbury and Morgan Yoder, named to the All-WNC Second Team by the Citizen-Times staff.
Hill led the Wolverines to their second straight state 1A championship, the Wolverines posting a 22-3 record. Two of those three losses came to West Henderson, the 3A state champion. Hill has a 215-63 record in her 11 seasons at Polk County with two state titles, three championship appearances and 20 or more wins in seven of her 11 seasons.
Sidelined for part of the season by a knee injury, Overholt finished with 181 kills and 263 digs. She recorded double-doubles in Polk’s final seven games, including a 14-kill, 25-dig effort at Brevard in the regular-season finale.
Yoder, the 1A State Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player of the state final, recorded 247 kills, 57 aces and 82 total blocks for the season. She recorded her 1,000th career kill in the state final and recorded at least 10 kills in Polk’s final five games.
Dusenbury, a junior, finished the season with 740 assists, with 30 or more assists in each of Polk’s final eight games, and surpassed 1,000 career assists during the season. She also recorded 212 digs.
Falcon senior Emma Bryson was named the All-WNC Player of the Year.
