Winding down

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

I’ve had a few minor cases that seem to be constants in my mission; I don’t mind because, often, just a little help goes a long way.

There was one major case that I had to turn down since they were out of my area. Though it broke my heart, I must keep my funds local to do the most good. Two possible cases are pending, which I’ve okayed: a dog with a hurt paw and a cat that had an injury due to a fallen tree.

Personally, I’ve been having chest pains and shortness of breath due to the thickening of a heart valve; the problem lessens blood flow to my heart. I’ll be seeing a valve specialist to hopefully ease the problem chemically. All other systems are doing pretty well, and I’m being a good boy, doing what I need. Good doctors and your prayers have gone a long way to keep this 83-year-old man ticking. Still, if the Good Lord decides that I’ve done enough and calls me home, please know that I‘ve set it up that all funds will be spent helping my kids.

At the end of each year I ask that you give what you can to your favorite charity; all are worthy. It’s been a tough year due to the economy and the hurricane, but if there’s any left over, please remember my kids, who know nothing of the economy and hurricane.

The next few weeks will be my end-of-year tales. To all those who know, I pray they still can stir your heart into giving. To those who may be new to Lennie’s kids, hopefully, you will join the cause. As always, the stories will come in this order: The Collaborator, Cola, the rest of the story, Yes, there’s a Santa Claus, and my Christmas poem, Back to my roots.

Have a blessed, happy, and healthy holiday season. Thank you all for being there, and as always, thanks for listening.
