Proceeds go toward annual scholarship fund

 

LANDRUM—Last week, the Landrum Area Fire & Rescue District announced it would be selling reflective address signs to aid in locating specific residences that may be more challenging to find using regular navigation tools. 

The department says having a visible address can shorten the arrival time of emergency services and that only a few minutes could be the difference between life and death.

Landrum Area Fire & Rescue District will offer the signs for $20 each, with an initial goal of posting 200 signs for Landrum area homes. The signs are blue with white reflective street numbers that shine brightly when illuminated by a vehicle’s headlights.

All proceeds will go directly into the Landrum Fire and Rescue scholarship fund, which helps two Landrum area high school seniors further their education each year.

The signs are also available for purchase by residents not residing in Landrum, making it easier for first responders to locate those in nearby areas.

The signs can be purchased at Landrum Fire Department, located at 200 N. Trade Ave.
