BASEBALL: Alm named MF7 Offensive Player of the Year, Scruggs also all-conference pick

Polk County’s Gunnar Alm has been named the Mountain Foothills 7 Conference Offensive Player of the Year in voting done by the league’s baseball coaches.
Alm and teammate Karson Scruggs were each named to the All-MF7 team.
Alm, a sophomore, hit .408 with seven home runs and 23 RBI. He scored 36 runs and stole 25 bases in helping lead Polk County to the second round of the state 1A playoffs.
Scruggs hit .367 with 22 RBI. He also made 10 pitching appearances, throwing 27.1 innings and posting a 2.82 earned run average.
East Rutherford’s Jordan Dixon was named the MF7 Player of the Year, with R-S Central’s Drew Yelton named the Pitcher of the Year and East’s Drew Reynolds named the league’s top coach.
