Polk County quartet named as finalists for Hot Stove League Dinner awards

Four Polk County athletes have been chosen as award finalists for the 1st Annual Blue Ridge Hot Stove Dinner, set for February 3 in Morganton.
The Hot Stove League Dinner recognizes top baseball and softball players and scholars. Originating in Charlotte more than a decade ago, the Hot Stove League has expanded to the area this year, with counties including Alexander, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Cleveland, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Watauga, Wilkes and Yancey.
Polk County nominees include:
- Mia Bradley, softball, Rising Star of the Year Award
- Sarah Vitale, softball, Rising Star of the Year Award
- Gunnar Alm, baseball, Rising Star of the Year Award
- Lawson Carter, baseball, High School Scholar-Athlete of the Year
The dinner is set for February 3 at 5 p.m. at Foothills Community Center in Morganton.
