TRYON—On Sunday, September 24, The Congregational Church UCC in Tryon, had a perfect Pollinator Party on a perfect day, complete with lemonade and homemade cookies.
First, Andrea Walter introduced Loti Woods and Dale Weiler, founders of Champions for Wildlife, who educated and enthralled all in attendance with their presentation of pollinators and native plants in North Carolina. Check out their website at www.ChampionsforWildlife.org to learn more.
Next, members of the church’s Creation Justice Team guided all through their native plant projects in front and to the side of the church and sold some plants to help start a few more native gardens. Then, the Kudzu (and Bamboo) Warrior team with church member Carol Meeske, and local kudzu guru Greg Miner, showed the amount of work done in the woods behind the church in the last 2-and-a-half years. Look at that huge piece of kudzu! Those not on the teams are becoming Creation Justice devotees for sure!
Thanks went to all for the enlightening, encouraging, and enjoyable afternoon. The Congregational Church UCC in Tryon is an Open and Affirming community founded in 1891.
