LANDRUM—Warren Brasmeister has dedicated his time in recent years to feeding those in need through his charity, God’s Manna Ministries. What began as a simple request to prepare meals for a small group of children has grown into a mission that has served thousands.

Brasmeister shared how his journey started around 2017 when a church youth pastor approached him about providing meals for a few kids during the weekly youth group. The revelation that some children were going without dinner shocked him into action. Rather than limiting his efforts to just a few, Warren started cooking for all the kids, ensuring that no one felt singled out or left out.

As time went on, he sought to expand his outreach. He connected with The Well in Landrum, a church focused on community service, embracing the belief that “the church is not the building, but the people.” This shift in perspective led him to participate in local outreach events, such as a program on Hogback Mountain Day, where he encountered a family struggling to put food on the table. This encounter resonated deeply with Warren, further motivating him to make a positive impact in his community.

After deep reflection and prayer, and consulting with his wife, Deborah, Brasmeister made a life-changing decision. He sold his comic book business and used the money to purchase a food trailer, which aided in his mission. It was a leap of faith, but he and Deborah felt guided to serve those in need. His first trailer was put to use just as the COVID-19 pandemic hit, forcing a temporary halt to his outreach. However, once restrictions eased, he donned the apron again and fed over 5,000 meals in the following years.

“There’s a special joy in serving, especially knowing that kids and families are receiving meals they wouldn’t otherwise have,” Brasmeister says.

His ministry focuses on partnerships with local churches to reach marginalized communities. Brasmeister prepares the food and allows the churches to take the lead in serving meals and connecting with the people. Currently, he works the lunch pantry in collaboration with the Greer Soup Kitchen, ensuring that children in low-income areas receive nutritious meals, especially during the summer months when school lunch programs are unavailable.

As he builds steam for his ministry, Warren remains focused on forming new partnerships. He recently partnered with an organization that will provide 1,000 book bags for the upcoming school year, aiming to ensure children have the necessary supplies.

Warren emphasizes the importance of community support in his efforts and gives considerable credit to Deborah, whom he calls the driving force behind his ministry.

“She has stood by me through this entire journey,” he added.

For anyone looking to help or get involved, Warren encourages community members to reach out, whether they’re interested in donating time or resources. He also praises organizations like Daily Bread Ministries, which run the Greer Soup Kitchen, for their invaluable assistance.

“Together, we can be the change we want to see,” he says, inviting everyone to join in finding ways to help others.
