Mother and daughter owners bring coffee, sandwiches and pastries to downtown
LANDRUM– Mother and daughter duo Amanda and Victoria Bridgeman opened Cardinal Coffee & Bistro this month at the former location of The Red Horse Cafe in downtown Landrum.
Bridgeman, originally of Polk County, has been a resident of Landrum for 22 years and also owns Dray Bakes and Baskets, a company that delivers homemade dessert baskets to college students across upstate South Carolina. The name of their new coffee bistro honors the Cardinals of Landrum Middle and High Schools as a community connection. Both mother and daughter enjoy birdwatching, as well.
The new owners didn’t make any major renovations to the location, but did redecorate with a “modern aesthetic with neutral tones.” Amanda will display her own artwork at the cafe.
“Everyone has told us when people come and shop in town, there’s nowhere for them to get ice cream or coffee without sending them outside of the downtown area,” she says. “We just hope to provide a quick break and then they can enjoy the rest of their day without having to leave our little town.”
Cardinal Coffee & Bistro is located at 114 E Rutherford St in Landrum and can be reached at cardinalcoffeeandbistro@gmail.com
The cafe’s current summer hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
