Letter to the editor

I would like to respond to my Brother in Christ, Doug Brinson, and his concerns about the Covid-19 vaccines.
First of all, the vaccines are very safe. Of the people that received the vaccine, 99.99% have had no side effects. I personally will take those odds any day. The FDA wouldn’t have released the vaccines, even for emergency usage, if they didn’t feel that they were safe. Of the 5,000 or so people who did die after receiving the vaccine, many of them had preexisting conditions or would have died anyway.
Secondly, he has questioned why vaccinated people are still wearing masks. The main reason we still wear masks is to protect people like you who have not been vaccinated. Even though the vaccine protects me, I could still spread it to you if I have contact with an unvaccinated person who has the virus and is asymptomatic. YOU’RE WELCOME.
I totally agree with Doug on one thing. They shouldn’t be offering incentives to people like cash or lottery prizes to get people to receive their vaccinations.
Doing their civic duty and protecting themselves and others should be incentive enough. The only way to get rid of the Covid-19 virus which has killed millions of people around the world and left millions of others permanently disabled is for, everyone who possibly can, to get fully vaccinated.
