Wolverine boys dominate at weekend x-country meet

Mark Teague led a 1-2-3 sweep Saturday for Polk County in the second heat of the R-S Saturday Brunch #2 cross country meet in Rutherfordton.
Competing on R-S Central’s course against West Lincoln and Avery, the Wolverine boys grabbed five of the top seven spots in the race.
Teague finished with a time of 18:28.23, ahead of Chan Barber’s second-place effort of 18:42.53 and Braxton Edwards in third in 18:52.73.
Tristan Devane had a time of 19:34.35 to place sixth, with Chris Rickman in seventh with a time of 20:07.76.
Also running for the Wolverines were Jayln Thomas (13th, 21:31.43) and Addison Broyles (14th, 21:37.27).
Ethan Stamey of Franklin had the top time in the two races with a finish of 16:28.42.
Polk County is scheduled to compete Monday in a dual meet at Madison, weather permitting.
