Parks and Recreation Department asking for public feedback

Published 11:12 pm Sunday, April 28, 2019

Polk County Parks and Recreation is excited to announce a new public survey is now open for all to contribute their thoughts and ideas for the future of parks and recreation in Polk County. Information gathered from the survey will be used to update the existing 2013 Polk County Recreation Master Plan and will guide and prioritize improvement to Polk County’s recreational services and facilities.

The Polk County Board of Commissioners and the Polk County Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee hope that many citizens of Polk County will participate in this survey so future improvements to the parks and recreation department will meet the needs of the community.

The updated Parks and Recreation Master Plan will be developed according to standards set by NC Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) in order to qualify for dollar-for-dollar matching grants from the state. A Master Plan designed with comprehensive community input will make a Polk County proposal more competitive with other NC local governments to receive state funding for up to 10 years.
