Girl Scout Troop No. 1361 conducted its annual post-Halloween candy collection for military members by asking Tryon Elementary third-graders to donate leftover or unwanted Halloween candy.

The candy was sent to Staff Sgt. Roger McMurray, who is stationed in Japan. Tryon Elementary first-graders also made cards for the troops.

McMurray recently sent a letter of thanks and holiday wishes to the Girl Scout troop, saying he and his friends enjoyed the candy, and added kind words of gratitude and encouragement.
