Enforce current laws, not make new regulations

I have owned guns for many years, and have never been attacked by one of my guns or heard of anyone else being attacked by a gun.
Why should law-abiding citizens be deprived of gun ownership because a few deranged individuals commit crimes with them? These criminals will just find an alternative weapon as is happening in London today.
Ted Kaczynski and Timothy McVeigh didn’t need guns to slaughter people.
Inattentive driving kills more people than guns do every year. Texting while driving is illegal in most states but there are no plans to outlaw cell phones in automobiles.
It is easy for politicians to offer feel-good solutions to school shootings when we already have gun laws that are not being enforced or are unenforceable. The best way to attack school shootings is to educate school counselors to recognize dangerous students.
They should encourage students to report any conversations or social media comments they hear. A database should be kept of these reports and they should be verified for authenticity.
If they prove accurate, authorities should be notified. The number of counselors should be increased and they should be compensated for their additional duties.
This would be more cost effective than having security guards in schools sitting around waiting for something to happen.
