Opportunities for businesses and organizations to participate

The Patriots Salute to Veterans Association, Inc. (PSVA) is seeking participants from local businesses, organizations and/or individuals for this year’s Veterans Day Parade. Although invitations have been sent out to all participants from the past two years, not many have expressed a desire to participate again this year.

This is a great opportunity for a local business and/or organization to not only show its support for the 2,200-plus veterans who live in Polk County, but to advertise, for free, your existence to the hundreds of spectators lining the streets of Columbus watching the parade. Our announcer, Tom Crabtree, will also provide a brief description, that you provide, of your business and/or group as you pass by the reviewing stand.

A time to thank the men and women in uniform who have served or are serving this country, ensuring we retain our way of life in such a manner, only comes once a year to Polk County.

As a 28-year veteran and an officer in both the VFW and American Legion, I cannot stress enough what we owe these men and women and I, for one, cannot think of a better way to show our appreciation of them and their family members than making our thanks public by participating in a parade in their honor.

All it takes is a car, truck, trailer, perhaps decorated with patriotic colors, or walking in a group, to be a part of this event and it lasts less than an hour.

If you are interested in displaying your support with us please contact Mike Collins at 864-457-3115 or Mc3115@aol.com, or Bevin Corbin at 828-802-1060 or bevincorbin@hotmail.com for more information and an application. There is no cost to participate.
